edge lettering
 

I wanted to see what you all could add to my limited knowledge about coin edge lettering

the new US pres coins have edge lettering. cant recall, has any other US coin had it? " in God we trust" and the mintmark, I think is whats on there

libertdads have edge lettering too but they're not really circulated-- have circulated mex coins ever had it?

nazi coins had edge lettering-- the motto Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz" "common good before the individual" I am told and -- heres a pic--

what else can you add to this? these are the coins I have visually inspected with edge lettering. what others might I encounter?

I purchased one of those on ebay almost a year ago. They are neat coins. I believe they are 90% silver.

Capped Bust Halves, $20 St. Gaudens - those are two that immediately come to mind (US coins). Another very recognizable coin is the British 1 pound coin. All three listed have edged lettering.

Edge lettering goes all the way back to the first year of official (Federal) coin production in the U.S. One variety of the "wreath type" 1793 large cent was a lettered edge version.

Some of the silver libertad coins from the 1980's-90 had edge lettering I believe.

If I remember right 1960's & earlier Greek 30 drachma silver coins have a lettered edge.

I am sure I had my hands on one of them when I was younger, I was in that same area at that same time. Chuckis was where the babes were.

The 2 Reichsmark is 62% and the 5 Reichsmark is 90%.

I think several of the French gold coins have it. The 20 franc "Gold Angels" have it for sure. I believe the gold roosters also have it. I would imagine some of the 40/100 franc coins would also have the lettering also. The lettering on this coins stands out of the coin (the opposite of incused).
